Leaving markers to define our path gives guidance to others making their own way. Let's take a lesson from America's past and apply its significance to that of your own history.
The Oregon Trail is history, legend and metaphor. While it was a heavily trodden "highway" in the mid-1800s, time and progress had all but obliterated much of the route by the early 1900s. In 1906, one of my ancestors, Ezra Meeker, performed an act of preservation that inspires me to do the work I do. It inspired a United States president, and perhaps it will inspire you.
Click here for a brief description of Ezra's remarkable undertaking, then think of the value others will gain by understanding your life's journey. There is nothing more precious than sharing the lessons of history, especially personal history.
